our journey of faith and god's faithfulness
our history

1995
where it all began
In 1995, we gathered in a classroom at Potomac High School in Woodbridge, Virginia, with a big vision and even bigger faith. Led by Bishop Lyle Dukes and Pastor Deborah Dukes, along with their young daughter, Brittany, they stepped out to answer God’s call to build a church that would transform lives and impact the world.
Our grand opening was held on March 26th and the official Pastoral installation service was held in July, officiated by Bishop Rufus Hayes.

1996
we moved to the auditorium
As God continued to add more members to the church, we outgrew the music classroom and needed a larger space to worship. We moved to the auditorium at Potomac High School and held our worship services there until we moved into our Telegraph Road location.

2001
cut the ribbon for our telegraph rd. location
In September 2001, we joyfully cut the ribbon and moved into our new $5 million worship facility on Telegraph Road. It was a monumental step of faith and a testament to God’s provision and the dedication of our church family.
Throughout the month of October, we celebrated with a series of powerful dedication services, culminating in a special closing ceremony officiated by Apostle Lawrence G. Campbell. This moment marked not just the opening of a building, but the beginning of a greater season of ministry, growth, and impact.

2004
paid off telegraph rd. mortgage after 3 years
In a remarkable display of God’s faithfulness, just three years after moving into our Telegraph Road location, we reached a powerful milestone in our church’s history — we burned the mortgage!
Through the unwavering faith, commitment, and generosity of our church family, what could have taken decades was accomplished in only a few short years. The mortgage burning was more than a financial victory — it was a spiritual breakthrough that demonstrated what is possible when God’s people unite in vision, prayer, and purpose.

2009

2022
founded churches united
In 2022, Bishop Dukes and Pastor Deborah founded Churches United, a global organization designed to unite together and build strong churches to get in position to make a greater global impact for Christ. Churches United has more than 400 church congregations around the world, including United States, Europe and Africa. Bishop Lyle Dukes serves as the Presiding Bishop and Pastor Deborah Dukes serves as the Executive Director.

2025
we became impact church
For more than three decades, Harvest Life Church has been a place of powerful worship, life-changing teaching, and community impact. Founded on faith and built on a vision to reach souls and transform lives, the ministry has grown from humble beginnings into a thriving church family that continues to make a difference locally and globally.
In 2025, Harvest Life Church entered a new and exciting season—a season of expansion, renewed vision, and greater purpose. To reflect this God-led elevation, the church embraced a new name: Impact Church.
